On Saturday afternoon, July 16, four people were killed in a two vehicle crash near Winterboro in Talladega County.
According to Alabama State troopers the accident happened at around 1.45 p.m.at the intersection of Highway 21 and Grist Mill Road on Alabama 21 four miles south of Talladega. The accident involved two vehicles, a 2014 Ford Expedition being driven by 38 year old Leiah Gatlin Watts of Munford and a 2016 Chevrolet Colorado driven by 75 year old Wiley Marsh Whitworth, of Talladega.
Watts was killed in the accident along with three passengers in the Expedition, 73 year old Evelyn Foshee Watts, of Munford, 73 year old Melda Faye Howard, of Lincoln, and 78 year old Mary Anna Burgess Adair, also of Lincoln. All were pronounced dead at the scene.
Another passenger in the Expedition, 44 year old Tammy McBurnett, of Lincoln, was transported to Citizens Hospital in Talladega. Whitworth was uninjured.
The accident is still under investigation.
