Early on Wednesday morning, March 16, a car collided with a horse on Eastern Valley Road in McAdory leaving the car driver seriously injured.
According to McAdory Fire and Rescue Chief, Jeff Wyatt, the accident happened around 3:15 a.m. The driver was driving a Honda Accord and was traveling down Eastern Valley Road and hit the horse near Burchfield Loop Road. The horse went through the windshield and the driver is now in serious condition with head injuries at University of Alabama Hospital Birmingham. The driver’s current condition is unknown.
The horse did not survive the incident and was covered with a tarp while authorities tried to discover the name of the owner of the horse and try and figure out how to remove it from the scene.
