According to Birmingham police, the accident happened around midnight near Center Street at 11th Court West when a fellow police officer was responding to a call in his patrol car. He entered the intersection and collided with another vehicle which was traveling east on 11th Court West.
The other vehicle was being driven by 45 year old Steven Tooson of Center point and he and his female passenger had to be extricated from their vehicle.
